SECOND HALF SUMMARY
The Rouslers get the crucial win over the line. The short 15 minute journey seemed to pay dividense, as Scott Adey-Linforth's side take all three points for their relegation battle. A tight first half was not replicated in the second, as Jamie Meddows and former Yeltz loanee Fin Holmes bagged goals to help bring Bromsgrove over the final straight to victory.

FIRST HALF SUMMARY
An end to end and entertaining opening 45 minutes! Neither side have managed to assert complete dominance in the tie, but that is what has made it such an interesting spectacle. Halesowen have had numerous corners in the half, but only once did they win the initial header. The away side have progressed a large proportion of play down the right, particularly with Holmes and Meddows. The Rouslers have only managed to produce the one save from Platt, and a much more productive half will be required from Adey-Linforth's side, if they want victory.

A proper end to end contest here at The Grove in the heart of the Midlands. White gets forward from his usual right back slot, and beats Tee for pace. His fast paced cross is too quick for any in red and white, until Lycett picks it up on the opposite wing. The secondary delivery again fails to find a Rouslers player, as the Yeltz clear.

Manning and Tee both takes it in turns to whip in corners for the hosts. The first from the former is taken on the right, but cleared back out to Manning to win a corner, for Tee's chance to deliver a more potent ball. On the opposite side to the first, the former Bromsgrove man's delivery is poor, and evades all in wait on the centre of the box.

The latter switches the play over to the left, where Manning misses the chance to intercept. Carter Lycett latches onto the ball, and hits a shot straight into the grateful palms of Platt.

The Bromsgrove flurries seem to have been put to the sword, as the Yeltz assert dominance into the game, as we head into the final 15 of the half. Parker, who initially gave the ball away, wins it back from Aksum White, for a corner. The ball is played over to Smile just outside the area, who wins a free kick is a promising position, which came to nothing.

This time it is Halesowen's turn to almost unlock the deadlock. An in swinging Manning corner on the right is headed away by Robinson, doing his duties this time in the defensive half. The Yeltz work the ball forward again, and back into the penalty area. The ball scrambles around the six yard box, and somehow Bromsgrove manage to clear.

WOW! Bromsgrove's early dominance very nearly paid diligences! The a four mentioned Robinson in at the heart of another Rouslers attack into the Yeltz final third. He finds Meddows on the right hand side of the penalty area, and after a slight nick off Platt, his shot clatters the post and rebounds out for a clearance!

It has been a tight and edgy opening 15 minutes to the game. Both sides have looked threatening in the attack, and forced either back line into making crucial clearances. Holmes has been the best player on the pitch so far, and looks a real threat against his former employers.

The Yeltz captain's cover fails, and the Sporting loanee hits inches wide of Dan Platt's left post.

He executes a short cross into the box, which is flicked away by Jak Hickman for a Sporting corner.

I am here at The Grove for a New Year's Day local derby between a Halesowen side who have been on a downward trajectory lately, and a re-born Bromsgrove team now coached by recently appointed boss Scott Adey-Linforth.
The Yeltz have on three of the four meetings in the fixture, including a 2-1 win courtesy of a Nat Kelly screamer in the reverse fixture at The Victoria Ground back in August. The game will mark a reunion for Conor Tee, the former Bromsgrove man now in the blue of Halesowen, and a player that Yeltz boss Russ Penn deemed "hard working" and "a true pro" when I caught up with him last week.
Penn also reminisced on the horrors a game earlier this season when his side played a side near the bottom at the home, "The Hitchin game here, was a game i will never forget, how bad i felt after the match. It is a performance that happened, and could show it's face again if we are not careful and do not underestimate our opposition."
The contrasting form could be significant here today, Halesowen are on a run of two defeats on the bounce after lacklustre displays in Telford and Bedfordshire. Bromsgrove, on the other hand have recently just won three league games in succession for the first time since January 2020, so an upset could be on the cards.
