Newly-appointed Yeltz boss was delighted at full time after his first home victory in charge following a 2-1 victory over Coalville Town.
Penn said "We were excellent against a top top team, a team who play possession based football which we reacted well too and more."
"We had to be solid and organised and take our chances when we got them. We had more chances than I thought we would have thanks to the presence of Miracle and Kieren."
Kieren Donnelly of whom was man of the moment picking up man of the match for his dazzling display that saw him claim both the Yeltz goals.
The game started evenly, early chances seeing Todd Parker having a crack from outside the box going narrowly wide of the post and Miracle Okafor nearly giving the Yeltz the lead after a shot from the centre of the box again went just wide of the post.
Jak Hickman caused a number of problems down the right hand side almost opening the scoring as he crossed for Miracle who headed the ball to the bottom right just before half time stoppage time.
Leading into the half the ball was pushed towards Coalville defender Ash Carter who was dispossessed in his own half allowing Donnelly to pick up the ball and drive towards goal and unleashing a shot past the keeper who was off his line.
The second half started with Coalville pressure trying to unlock the Halesowen setup to get an equaliser, forcing a number of crosses into the box making the Yeltz defenders work and making a double change mid way through the half to help their attempt.
Halesowen however got through the pressure and doubling the lead after a Donnelly run forward ended with a beautiful shot from outside the box that flew into the bottom left.
Coalville needed a response quick and did get one to the relief of manager Ian King after multiple shots were blocked by the Yeltz defence after the defenders failed to win control of the ball.
Daniel Platt making a wondeful save from close range ten minutes before the end in an attempt to preserve a clean sheet after Coalville worked the ball into the box.
Entering the final stages with the referee adding on an additional four minutes, Russ Penn made on change brining off debutant Kai Lissimore.
The game looked to have fizzled out with the Yeltz looking comfortable until Ravens defender Elliot Putman met a cross that he headed home.
Penn's side eventually saw the victory through winning at home for the first time in almost two months and the second win under his management.
