Barwell's in-form, loyal and current club top scorer for the season Brady Hickey has had an impeccable season. Despite his side sitting just two points above the drop zone. The midfielder has scored 18 goals, which has included six braces and one hattrick.

As he celebrates his 10th season at the club, Hickey's campaign is one to remember. Not only is he sixth on the best games per goal ratio list, but he is the only player who plays for a side in the bottom half to appear in the top 10.
An even more outstanding stat, is that 13 of his 18 goals have come in the second half. Only Bedford Town's Leon Lobjoit (18) has scored more. Hickey is third in the 2025 goalscoring chart with 10, and his three goals so far this month puts him joint top with Banbury United's Connor Stanley on the April scoring chart.
Barwell's jewel in the crown, is one of just two players who has featured in all 43 games for the club this season in all competitions. The other being Ollie Brown-Hill. The Barwell captain has scored 54 goals in the last three seasons. But there is no doubt his contribution this season has mattered the most to a team that would be destined for the drop without him.
I spoke with Hickey to gather his thoughts on his remarkable individual season. As well as his long tenure at the club, and the sides ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.
"There have been no secrets to my goalscoring form this season. I just have that knack and hunger to arrive in the box and score goals. I was not aware of my brilliant second half goalscoring record.
"I would guess one of the reasons for it is because the opposition tire in the second 45. I can only assume the main reason is because we do tend as a team to perform better in the second half. The proof is in the pudding on that one, but I do not think it is because I play better personally.
"I had a very brief spell at Nuneaton Borough around eight years ago now. But as I only spent two months there, we (Barwell) are counting my tenure at the club as 10 years. I have a 10 year testimonial this year, so I can not wait for that.
"The fans have been a big factor in why I have stayed here for so long. They are all genuinely kind hearted people, who have the clubs best interests at heart. They welcome me and my family and create such a positivity around the place.
"Even when we have gone through the bad times, and there have been some this season, the fans stuck with us. I am a Leicestershire lad, so the locality side of things is perfect for me. Especially as Barwell are one of the higher placed non-league sides in the county.
"My hattrick against Biggleswade last weekend was entirely important because it gave us a huge three points. We have four cup finals left to play as we try and keep our step 3 status. I know myself and the team are working as hard as possible behind the scenes to make sure we perform to the best of our abilities on the pitch.
"There is no doubt we need points to survive. The club as a whole need to stick together like we have for the last few years as we try and get ourselves out of this situation. It means everything to all here that we keep our step 3 status.
"We are aware that this weekend's game against Halesowen is a monster game. One of the best sides in the league this season. But we have to look at every game left, no matter who is put in front of us, and target the points needed to keep us up."
