Bromsgrove snatch a late draw against play-off chasing Harborough Town after Jack Newell's 94th minute strike cancelled out Ben Stephen's 18th league goal of the campaign to lift Sporting eight points from relegation trouble.

I spoke to Bromsgrove boss Scott Adey-Linforth post match. "I thought we started the game really poorly. Credit to Harborough because I thought they were outstanding in the first 30 minutes. They completely blew us away and were well worthy of their 1-0 lead. We stayed strong during that period, Charlie (Price) made some big saves, and I thought Ash Carter was outstanding.

"We managed to stay in the game, during their strong 30 minute spell, and after that I thought we got a bit of control back. It was still not enough to my liking, but I was happy we managed to see it through until half-time.

"Second half we brought Jack Newell on to try and take control of the game, which we did, and it also helped us pick up some possession. I do not think it was great in the final third from us, but we were able to pin them back, and certainly did enough to take something from the game.

"Against a side that are absolutely flying at the moment, it is a very good point for us especially in our current situation. Eight points above the bottom four is a nice gap and a good position to be in, but until anything's certain we and I am not going to stop.

"We have seen in this league, it is mad, and all the sides below us are good, and can surprise anyone on their day. It is in our hands to stay up, we just need to focus on putting points on the board ourselves, and not hope others slip up.

"Jack Newell for me was our man of the match yesterday. He was outstanding. We took him out of the side to give him a rest with it being a three game week, so we could freshen things up. We required midfield control and for someone to get their foot on the ball in the second half, and I felt Jack did just that.

"He is not a goal scorer, but I thought he gave us the platform to go forward and get the equaliser, which he ended up getting himself. Since I have been here, he has been brilliant. He goes about his work quietly, and does not get the headlines, but the job he does for the team is so important. Really pleased for him, because he is a top player and a brilliant human being."

I also caught up with Sporting goal scorer Jack Newell. His equaliser last night was his first league goal since Boxing Day 2023, having since gone 47 appearances, 35 of which starts without a goal.

"It felt like a long wait for my goal yesterday, but in fairness I have not had too many scoring opportunities over the last year or so. It has got a weight off my shoulders because it helped the team pick up an important point. It was a really nice feeling.

"In terms of the game itself, I thought it was a contrasted throughout. Harborough started the first 20 minutes on top, and took the game to us with their quality and the players they have got. They deservedly went 1-0 up. We started slowly, but we got into the second half and took the game to them.

"We created some good chances, and played with more purpose which helped us get further up the pitch. The longer a game is 1-0, the more chance you have of nicking a goal, and that is what we did. We still are not mathematically safe this season. I think one or two wins may be enough, but we will always have something to play for no matter what. In the dressing room, we have a target for where we want to be at the end of the season, and we want to achieve that to start next season fresh."
