Bury Town have had a mixed start to life in their first step 3 season for 10 years as they look to survive relegation and stop an instant return to step 4

The Suffolk side currently sit in 16th, seven points from safety, despite winning just once in their last six games under manager Cole Skuse. The side have had some impressive results, most notably the win against Halesowen Town at the start of last month. In their most recent game, a 4-0 win against Barwell, one of the key men to the win was Ollie Canfer.
The 37 year old scored a brace in the game, having scored just once in the 10 league appearances he had made prior. The striker had a brief spell at step 4 Felixstowe & Walton at the start of the season, but is now fully in the swing back at Bury.
I spoke with the forward to get his thoughts on his goals at the weekend, the reason for his departure from and quick return to Bury, as well as the club's ambitions for the rest of the campaign.
"Yeah it was a good day for me at Barwell last weekend. Not just for me personally but also for the team. The result had been coming for a long time, as apart from the game last week against Stratford, we had been very competitive in each fixture and should have got what we deserved in it, a win or a draw. On Saturday we were all focused on getting the result and putting all the bad results right after a poor performance the weekend before.
"My move to Felixstowe at the start of the season was purely down to work and feeling, in fear I would not have been able to commit to Bury as much as I would have liked. Therefore not doing myself justice or helping the club. Following a chat with Cole (Skuse) after the approach to come back to Bury and felt like I could not turn down the club that felt like home for me.
"The season so far has been a frustrating one for the team, as we have not got the results the squad feel we deserved. We have shown we belong at this level, with wins particually against Halesowen and St Ives. From a personal perspective my favourite moment of the season has to be the game last weekend with my brace, and helping the team to a big three points, our first for over a month. For the second half of the season, we just need to go again and continue to progress as a team and see where and how far it can take us, hopefully staying up as a minimum.
"My message to the supporters is to continue to stick with the team and make the noise we have this season. The songs, drum, and constant support has pushed the team on, and will continue to do so if it continues, which I am sure it will. As with every season, there will be ups and downs but we will continue to work hard for them on and off the pitch. In terms of our position, obviously the first step is to be safe from relegation and give you all another season at step 3, and then the season after push on and see what it can take us, because this club is going in the right direction."
