PRESENTER - Non-league step 3 side Halesowen Town's manager Russ Penn has asked for his side to prepare right, and go out aggressive from the off as they get ready for a blockbuster clash this weekend in the Southern Premier Central as they host Kettering Town.
Ben Ditchfield has more details on the game, Ben why is this contest being spoken about so much?
ME - Yes, well the game is between the two sides with the best home attendance record in the league, Halesowen with an average of 1,163, and Kettering 1,141. The two sides currently sit 7th and 11th respectively at in the Southern with both clubs eyes set on closing the gap on the top 5 and play-off positions. The game is highly anticipated, particularly with the new Kettering manager, Liam McDonald, being an ex-Halesowen player, where he played his football for a short period in 2007 ago and made 14 appearances. A manager who had started his life in Northamptonshire with just one win in five games after his appointment in October, including a defeat to bottom of the league Stamford. The man is the opposite dugout Russ Penn is closing on his 100th game in charge and his side are currently enjoying a 5 game unbeaten run. I spoke with the Halesowen manager last night.
PRESENTER - How has this game been built up? Is there any tension between the fans?
ME - The game has been showcased as the two biggest clubs in the division, and both sets of fans have enjoyed a lot of banter over recent fixtures, and due to the club's supports, a Halesowen Town spokesperson has said the game will be 'segregated', and for people to 'respect the club's decision'. This could be potentially aligned with the new segregation gates that were put up last weekend. The most recent game at The Grove, Halesowen's ground, between themselves and Bishop's Stortford at the weekend, saw a clash between the players on the pitch, which sent the Yeltz fans, into a frenzy on social media, prompting this late change of heart.
Thankyou.
